A type of tech is an exam where all the cadets have to pass before entering the flying phase. The test is conducted to evaluate our understanding of the aircraft operating technique for normal, abnormal and emergency operation together with the Aircraft Performance that should be achieved when the aircraft is operated in accordance with these procedures. All of these procedures and details are listed in the aircraft flight manual (AFM) which is provided by the aircraft manufacturer specifically Diamond for HMA. In Malaysia, type tech is valid for 6 months.

Skybrary defines, A Flight Manual is a manual, associated with the Certificate of Airworthiness, containing limitations within which the aircraft is to be considered airworthy, and instructions and information necessary to the flight crew members for the safe operation of the aircraft. (ICAO Annex 6).
After completing our phase 3 exams by the end of March we went back home for a short break and came back to HMA on the 3rd Of May to get our type tech classes started. The class was conducted for 4 days for a total of 10 hrs. Studying the AFM was interesting as it was explaining all the procedures which we will be applying when flying the diamond 40 later. Although the number of pages was ridiculous, as an aviation lover I didn’t feel the hassle or tiredness when reading it. The classes started on the 6th of May till 9th May and the test was on the 10th of May. Scored 100% In my test.
After completing our exams we were all excited to collect our headsets, life vests, gats jar, and all other flying apparatus. Even though we know the flying waiting list is quite long. I am not sure if we took it after the exam or before. I suppose it was before the test. 6/5/2019

Well thats a new one. There is no rules stating that a pilot needs a driving license in order to fly. We need a driving license to drive a car and pilots license to fly a plane. It is as easy as that.
So assuming one of you don’t have a drivers license and still wish to pursue your career as piloting. Its not a big issue. If you are the type who doesn’t want to own a driving license and never want to drive a car nothing is stopping you from getting a pilots license.
A pilot must have their valid pilot license, medical certificate, airport pass, and a government issued photo id.
You just need a government issued id with you all the time. It can be the IC, driving license, military id or others that portray your valid photo .
So far from what I have read in CAAM website , there is no any regulation stating a pilot must own a driving license.
However in some countries pilots are required to hold a driving license. In military as well , but it may vary in civilian sectors. Just that you will be a pilot who cant drive a car. Well thats funny. Don’t worry and enjoy your life as a cadet pilot.
Anyways those who are thinking that getting a flying license is as easy as getting a driving license. Remember you don’t study meteorology, general navigation in order to drive and also no waze to navigate.
Ever wonder what license a “flying car” driver/pilot needs to operate? There might be a school in future for flying cars license studies. I am sure a different license will be provided that covers both flying and driving in a single course.It is important to make sure the drivers are operating this things as safe as possible.
We have many psychopaths on road that drive in the opposite direction and recklessly. Car navigation is the steering wheel, break, accelerator,or the clutch if its a manual one. But a plane control is much more compact such as control stick, rudders, thrust lever, engine or propeller parameters display.Many factors will be hugely effected in terms of aerodynamics, controls, pressurisation and weather . Your ground speed is not your true air speed.
If these cars are invented for the public use, it is going to be 10x more dangerous especially in congested cities. Could you imagine a flying car in KL Pudu road. It is going to be a chaos up there.
So you will be assessed by JPJ and CAAM. Wow thats cool and double the pressure. But you dont honk and raise up your hand while flying.

Aviation medicine also known as flight medicine or aerospace medicine, is a preventive or occupational medicine in which the patients/subjects are pilots, aircrews, or persons involved in flight e.g cabin crew and passengers. I have picked up all the important points that you require to know as a pilot from the CAAM website.
Depending on the type of flying you wish to do and your general medical fitness, there are different options available for the type of aircraft that you may wish to fly. In Malaysia medical certificate is divided into class ,class 2 & class 3. Assessment – means the conclusion on the medical fitness of a person based on the evaluation of the person’s medical history as required in these Directives and further examinations as necessary, medical tests such as, but not limited to, ECG, blood pressure measurement, blood testing, X-ray and specialist’s reports.
Applicants for and holders of a commercial pilot license (“CPL”), a multi-crew pilot license (“MPL”), or an airline transport pilot license (“ATPL”) must hold a Class 1 medical certificate.
A applicant should not posses any abnormality of the function of the eyes or any active pathological condition, congenital or acquired, acute or chronic, or any sequel of eye surgery or trauma, which is likely to interfere with the safe exercise of the privileges of the applicable license(s).
Eyesight – this is the commonest cause of difficulty during the examination.
Hearing – When tested on a pure-tone audiometer, initial applicants shall not have a hearing loss of more than 35 dB at any of the frequencies 500, 1 000 or 2 000 Hz, or more than 50 dB at 3000 Hz, in either ear separately. Applicants for revalidation or renewal, with greater hearing loss shall demonstrate satisfactory functional hearing ability.
Full blood test & Pressure – this is a finger prick blood test which measures the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. A low haemoglobin is called anaemia and will need further investigation. Pressure should be within the normal range
Chest X-ray – this investigation is not required for DCA Class 1, but may be required when indicated on clinical or epidemiological grounds.
Urine test – Mainly looking for sugar (diabetes), protein or blood.
Electrocardiogram – To check any abnormalities in your heart

To fly EASA aircraft (for example Cessna 152 or Piper PA28) on an EU Part-FCL Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL), you need an internationally recognized Class 2 medical certificate obtained from an aeromedical examiner (AME).
Class 2 Medical Assessment which is applicable to applicants for, and
holders of:
(i) flight navigator license;
(ii) flight engineer license;
(iii) PPL (aeroplane, airship, helicopter and powered-lift); and
(iv) BPL.
In the case of the respective aircrew who is of the age of between 40 years and 1 day and below the age of 50 years and 1 day on the date the medical certificate is issued or on the expiry date of his previous medical certificate, as the case may be,
SPL For CPL – 12 Months
SPL For PPL – 24 Months
A medical certificate which is issued preceding the age of 50 years and 1 day shall be valid until the respective aircrew reaches the age
of 51 years; and
In the case of the respective aircrew who is of the age of 50 years and 1 day or above on the date the medical certificate is issued or on the expiry date of his previous medical certificate, as the case may be, 12 months.
Class 1 medical certificates shall be valid for a period of 12 months.
